URad is a full commitment to damage with the added benefit of having an always-on anointment. Gamma Burst is able to nullify survival and aggro issues with Red Fang. Fade Away is a higher damage option but has less survivability. The Fade Away-centered setup can freely switch to a GITM loadout if that’s to your preference, providing maximum action skill flexibility.
Playstyle: Gamma burst has a simple gameplay loop. Cast Gamma and your pet will taunt pretty much everything. You kill stuff while preparing to get your Gamma Burst back up when it ends by using any of your weapons/tools with high Head Count proc rates.
You can swap from Red Fang to any other COMs while Gamma Burst is up and you will retain the taunt for future Gamma Burst casts. Red Fang’s taunt duration is extremely long, so if you don’t mind tedious menu use you can swap in any encounter you choose.
Some enemies are immune to taunt effects, most notably Wotan’s bottom half during its final phase.
Gamma Burst can be used offensively in combination with He Bites, particularly against Wotan and Anathema.
100% Radiation while below 50% health (URad) is your main anointment for all weapons. Other anointments like Consecutive Hits, Killstack (12.5% reload speed and gun damage per kill stacking up to 10 times), 125% Splash and 100% N2M can come into play when facing highly resistant/immune enemies, or when a weapon just benefits more from those. Kill skill anoint excels for prolonged mobbing but does notably fall off in bossing and when not given time to ramp.
For Gamma, you also have the option of using the 115% Bonus Radiation anointment, which allows you to keep healthgate and equip any shield alongside Pearl. There’s a damage and anointment uptime tradeoff for this.
As of DLC 6, you can opt to use a Re-Volter with ASS anoint instead of urad, allowing you to maintain healthgate with comparable overall damage and enabling a choice between 100 ASA, Killstack, or Consecutive Hits on guns. 50% damage while Airborne is also an option but can only be obtained while hotfixes are disabled.
Anointment is a choice between 50% ASE or ASS Break/Fill Effect on some shields. The ASS anointment can provide great survival and utility on some shields. Front Loader is the only shield that can be paired with a pearl for URad, the rest require a Deathless if you’re going to use URad. ASS is of course only really available for Fade Away.
Anointment is a choice between 50% ASE or 25% On Grenade Throw. 50% ASE has higher potential when element matching properly, while OGT is not ASE dependent and can provide a slightly higher damage multiplier in theory. If using OGT, you might want to consider running the “More Than Okay Boomer” modifier for grenade sustain. OGT is recommended for longer duration Gamma Burst setups.
